Yechezchial/Ezekiel 28:25 - 29:21

Chapter 28

25 So said my Lord Hashem/Elohim - "When I gather in the House of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and I shall be sanctified by them in the eyes of the nations, and they shall dwell on their land that I gave to My servant, to Jacob,  26 then they shall dwell upon it securely and build houses and plant vineyards and dwell securely — when I execute judgments upon all who disdain them roundabout them — then they shall know that I am Hashem, their God."

Chapter 29

1 In the tenth year, in the tenth [month], on the twelfth of the month, the word of Hashem came to me, saying,  2 "Son of Man, set your face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.  3 Speak and you shall say, Thus says my Lord Hashem/Elohim - Behold! I am against you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, the great sea-monster that crouches within its rivers, who has said, 'Mine is the River and I have made myself.'  4 Now I shall attach hooks to your cheeks and I shall cause the fish of your rivers to cleave to your scales, and I shall draw you out from within your rivers, and all the fish of your rivers shall cleave to your scales.  5 And I shall cast you into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers; upon the face of the field shall you fall, not brought in and not gathered together; to the beasts of the land and to the birds of the heavens have I given you as food.  6 Then all who dwell in Egypt shall know that I am Hashem, because they were a reed-like support for the House of Israel.  7 When they grasp you in [their] palm, you will be snapped, and you will pierce their every shoulder; and when they lean upon you, you will be broken and will force all their loins to stand straight.

8 "Therefore, thus says my Lord Hashem/Elohim - Behold! I shall bring the sword against you and cut off from you man and beast .  9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste and they shall know that I am Hashem, for he has said, 'The River is mine and I have created.'  10 Therefore, behold! I am against you and your rivers and I shall make the land of Egypt into ruins, desolate destruction, from Migdol-Seveneh, until the border of Kush.  11 The foot of man shall not pass through it, and the foot of beast shall not pass through it, and it shall not be inhabited for forty years.  12 And I shall make the land of Egypt desolate among desolate lands, and its cities shall be desolate among destroyed cities for forty years; and I shall scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries.

13 "For thus said my Lord Hashem/Elohim - At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered.  14 And I will return the captivity of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, onto the land of their dwelling, and they shall be a lowly kingdom there.  15 Among the kingdoms it shall be the lowest, and it shall no more exalt itself above the nations; and I shall diminish them that they shall not rule over the nations.  16 And they shall no more be for the House of Israel a guarantor recalling sin, as they turn after them, and they shall know that I am the Lord Hashem/Elohim."

17 It was in the twenty-seventh year, in the first [month], on the first of the month, that the word of Hashem came to me, saying,  18 "Son of Man, Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, caused his army to perform a great service against Tyre; every head is bald, every shoulder peeled; and he and his army had no reward from Tyre for the service that he had performed against her.  19 Therefore, says my Lord Hashem/Elohim - Behold! I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, and he will carry off her populace and take her spoil and take her booty — that shall be a reward for his army.  20 For his service that he performed in her I have given him the land of Egypt, because of what they had done to Me — the words of my Lord Hashem/Elohim.

21 "On that day I will cause the strength of the House of Israel to flower, and to you I will grant a vindication in their midst; and they shall know that I am Hashem."
