Yermiyah/Jeremiah  7:21 - 8:3,  9:22 - 23

Chapter 7

21 So said Hashem, Master of Legions, God of Israel - Pile your olah-offerings upon your peace-offerings and eat flesh.  22 For I did not speak with your forefathers nor did I command them — on the day I took them out of the land of Egypt — concerning olah-offering or peace-offering.  23 Rather, I commanded them regarding only this matter, saying - "Hear My voice that I may be a God unto you and you will be a people unto Me; and you shall follow along the entire path in which I command you, so that it will go well for you."

24 But they did not hear, they did not incline their ear, and they followed their own counsels and the fancies of their evil heart; they went backwards and not forward.  25 From the day your forefathers left the land of Egypt until this day, I sent them all My servants the prophets, every day I would send them early in the morning.  26 But they would not listen to Me, and they would not incline their ear; they stiffened their neck and became more evil than their forefathers.

27 You will tell them all these things but they will not listen to you; you will call to them but they will not answer you.

28 You shall tell them, "This is the nation that will not listen to the voice of Hashem, its God, and will not accept rebuke; its faith is lost and cut off from their mouth."

~ Chabad Chassidim continue 9:22 ~

29 Tear out your hair and throw it away, proclaim lament from the heights; for Hashem has despised and forsaken the generation of His wrath.  30 For the children of Judah have done what is evil in My eyes — the word of Hashem — they have placed their abominations in the House upon which My Name was proclaimed, to contaminate it.  31 They have built the high altars of Topheth that are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and daughters in the fire — which I have not commanded and have not contemplated.

32 Therefore, behold! days are coming — the word of Hashem — when it will no longer be called the Topheth and the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Murder; and they will bury in Topheth until there is no more room.  33 The carcass of this people will be food for the bird of the heaven and the animal of the earth, and none will frighten them away.  34 I will suspend from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become ruin.

Chapter 8

1 At that time — the word of Hashem — they will remove the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its ministers, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of Jerusalem's inhabitants from their graves.  2 They will spread them out in the sun and the moon and all the heavenly legions, which the people loved and which they worshiped and followed, and which they sought out and to which they prostrated themselves; [the bones] will not be gathered together nor buried — they will be dung upon the face of the earth.  3 Death will be preferable to life for the remnant of those who survive from this evil family, who survive in all the places where I have driven them — the word of Hashem, Master of Legions.

~ All conclude the Haftarah here ~

Chapter 9

22 So says Hashem; Let a wise man not glory in his wisdom, nor let the strong one glory in his strength, nor let a wealthy one glory in his wealth.  23 Only in this may one who glories glorify himself - in discerning and knowing Me, for I am Hashem, Who performs kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the world; for these are what I desire — the word of Hashem.
