Yermiyah/Jeremiah 46:13 - 28
13 The word that Hashem spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, that Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, would come to strike the land of Egypt:
14 "Proclaim in Egypt! Make heard in Migdol! Make heard in Noph and Tahpanhes! Say - Stand erect and prepare yourselves, for the sword will have devoured all your surroundings. 15 Why have each of your mighty ones been washed away? — he has not stood — because Hashem has buffeted him. 16 He caused much stumbling; indeed, one fell against the other, and they said, 'Let us arise and return to our people and the land of our birth, from before the overpowering sword.' 17 They called out there, 'Pharaoh, the blustery king of Egypt, has let the time go by.'
18 "As I live — the words of the King, Whose Name is Hashem, Master of Legions — like Tabor among the mountains and Carmel by the sea — so shall he come. 19 Make yourself vessels of exile, O daughter who dwells in Egypt, for Noph shall be a desolation and a wasteland without an inhabitant. 20 Egypt is a beautiful calf, but a goring horn from the north is coming — it is coming. 21 Even its mercenaries within it are like fatted calves, for they, too, shall turn and flee together, they shall not stand, for the day of their tragedy will have come upon them, the time of their final visitation. 22 [Egypt's] voice will travel like a snake's, but [the Babylonians] will come with an army, and with axes will they arrive against her, like woodcutters. 23 They will cut down her forest — the words of Hashem — for they are beyond calculation, for they are more numerous than locusts, and they have no number. 24 The daughter of Egypt shall be humiliated, delivered into the hand of a northern people."
25 Hashem, Master of Legions, the God of Israel said, "Behold! — I decree upon Amon of No and upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt and upon its gods and upon its kings and upon Pharaoh and upon those who trust in him. 26 And I shall deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants; but thereafter you shall have rest, as in days of old — the words of Hashem.
27 "But you, be not afraid, My servant Jacob, and be not frightened, O Israel, for I shall save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity, and Jacob shall return and be tranquil and complacent, and none shall make him tremble. 28 You, be not afraid, My servant Jacob — the words of Hashem — for I am with you; though I shall make an end of all the nations where I have scattered you, of you I shall not make an end; I shall punish you with justice, but I shall not destroy you utterly."
