Zechariyah/Zechariah   2:14 - 4:7

Chapter 2

14 Sing and be glad, O daughter of Zion, for behold! — I come and I will dwell among you — the words of Hashem.  15 Many nations will attach themselves to Hashem on that day, and they shall become a people unto Me, but I will dwell among you — then you will realize that Hashem, Master of Legions, has sent me to you.  16 Hashem shall take Judah as a heritage to Himself for His portion upon the Holy Land, and He shall choose Jerusalem again.  17 Be silent, all flesh, before Hashem, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!

Chapter 3

1 He showed me Joshua the Kohen Gadol standing before an angel of Hashem, and the Satan standing at his right to accuse him.  2 And Hashem said to the Satan, "Hashem shall denounce you, O Satan, and Hashem Who chooses Jerusalem shall denounce you again; this is indeed a firebrand rescued from the flames."  3 Joshua was dressed in soiled garments as he stood before the angel.  4 [The angel] spoke up and said to those standing before him, saying, "Remove the soiled garments from upon him." Then he said to him, "See, I have removed your iniquity from upon you and had you clothed in fresh garments."

5 Then I said, "Let them place a pure turban on his head"; and they placed the pure turban on his head and they dressed him in garments; and the angel of Hashem remained standing.

6 Then the angel of Hashem warned Joshua, saying:  7 "So said Hashem, Master of Legions - If you walk in My ways and safeguard My charge, then you shall administer My Temple and safeguard My courtyards, and I shall permit you movement among these immobile [angels].  8 Listen now, O Joshua the Kohen Gadol — you and your fellows sitting before you, for they are miracle workers — for behold I bring My servant, the flourishing one.  9 For behold! — the stone that I have placed before Joshua, seven eyes toward one stone; behold I am engraving its adornment, the words of Hashem, Master of Legions, and I have removed the sin of that land in one day.  10 On that day, the words of Hashem, Master of Legions, each man will invite his fellow beneath the vine and beneath the fig tree."

Chapter 4

1 The angel who spoke with me returned and woke me, as a man is awakened from his sleep.  2 He said to me, "What do you see?"

I said, "I see, and behold! — there is a Menorah made entirely of gold with its bowl on its top, and its seven lamps are upon it and there are seven tubes to each of the lamps that are on its top.  3 And two olive trees are near it, one to the right of the bowl and one to its left."

4 And I spoke up and said to the angel that was speaking to me, saying, "What are these, my lord?"

5 The angel who was speaking to me spoke up and said to me, "Do you not know what they are?"

  I said, "No, my lord."

6 He spoke up and said to me, saying, "This is the word of Hashem to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not through armies and not through might, but through My spirit,' says Hashem, Master of Legions.  7 Who are you, O great mountain — before Zerubbabel [you shall become] a plain! He shall bring forth the main stone to shouts of, 'Beauty, beauty to it!'"
